Attachment Behaviors in Children - Some Essay Examples
Attachment Behaviors in Children - Some Essay ExamplesChildren usually develop certain attachment behaviors that make them cling to one another and feel they are only together with their parents. One of the more common ones is the desire to be cuddled. Other commonly seen ones include feeding and sleeping time, playing and chasing, and cuddling.Baby Cuddles is common. You will hear it every day. We do a good job of making sure that babies have plenty of skin-to-skin contact, but babies still like to be held, they still like to be cuddled. When the baby is less than an hour old, his muscles are less developed and so it's necessary to hold him or her close to your chest. At two or three, a young child will climb on you, or the floor, and crawl away. This is not an adult problem. It's a behavior problem. The baby needs to be able to crawl away.A baby will automatically 'shut down' when the brain is active. That's when they feel they need protection and safety. If they get enough security from us, they will generally just shut down and be quiet. They don't want to risk making the mommy scream. When a baby is separated from us for a while, they start to cry, and separation anxiety comes about. It can be anything from mild to severe. It can be a sense of helplessness, a fear of the unknown, a loss of self-esteem, and an inability to make friends. When a child behaves well, we do a good job of rewarding them. When they are bad or have a temper tantrum, we usually don't reward them much, because they have created an unhappiness in us, and a general disturbance in the home.Parents should strive to understand and observe what their child's behavior is telling them. This is how a parent can help to correct these behaviors in a child.
